Dear Chabot College Astronomy 20 Student:

In our course this term, you will be able to use MasteringAstronomy, an online tutorial companion to your textbook.   The following instructions will help you get started using the system with your own username, password, and access code. 

 

What You Need:

P      A valid email address

P      A student access code (packaged with your new text or available for purchase for $27 at www.masteringastronomy.com).

P      The zip code for your school: 94545

P      OurCourse ID”:   ASTRO20FALL2008

 

Student Registration:

  • Go to www.masteringastronomy.com and select the Essential Cosmic Perspective 4th ed.  
  • If you have your access code, simply click Register (you may also “Buy Now” if you do not have a new student access code).
  • Select “No, I am a New User” ; type in your Access Code in the fields provided (enter one “word” per box).
  • Enter your School Zip Code (94545), select your Country (United States) and click Next.
  • Enter your Name and Email and select Your School (Chabot College)
  • Create a personal Login Name and Password, answer the Security Question and click Next.

 

If successful, you will receive a Confirmation Screen with your registration information (this information will also be emailed to you).

 

Enrolling in Your Course

You will need to “enroll” in your MasteringAstronomy course to be included in your instructor’s gradebook.

  • Go to   and select the textbook for your course.
  • Under "Established User," enter the login name and password you created and click Log In.
  • When prompted, enter your ASTRO20FALL2008. You can put in your “W” number for student ID.

 

Congratulations!. To access your course from now on, simply go to www.masteringastronomy.com, select your textbook, and enter your login name and password.

  • Log in to your www.masteringastronomy.com homepage and click the “Help” tab on the top menu.
  • Visit http://www.masteringhelp.com and click the logo for MasteringAstronomy. Frequently asked questions, minimum requirements, and extensive online help resources are available to students.

 

 

Important Note:

For TEMPORARY login to Mastering Astronomy, so that you can check it out (but not submit tutorials for a grade), used a userid of chabotastro20 and a password of astro20student.
