Dr. Katie Hern,

English Instructor

 

Faculty Bio

Dr. Hern has been teaching writing, critical thinking, and research since 1991.

She received her B.A. (magna cum laude) from New York University, with a major in Journalism and minors in English and Sociology. She holds a master's degree in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University, a second master's degree in Educational Leadership from Mills College, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Mills College.

Prior to coming to Chabot College, Dr. Hern was Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of English at John F. Kennedy University. She is also the co-author of the nonfiction book Reunion: A Year in Letters Between a Birthmother and the Daughter She Couldn't Keep (Seal Press, 1999).

Also, she loves Halloween.
