Design a Basic Drill for an Individual Skill
1) Review: the lecture notes for week #9 – Basic Coaching & Basic Skills: Throwing, Catching & Fielding, Throwing and Catching Drills, Fielding Drills and Fly Ball Drills.
2) Review Chapter 32 regarding the characteristics of a good drill.
ASSIGNMENT #9
Design a drill for throwing, catching or fielding (make sure it is not one of the drills I have given you). If you coach a sport other than softball or baseball design a drill for an individual skill specific to your sport. For example: Football – blocking, tackling, or passing, Basketball – dribbling, shooting or passing.
Include the following:
1. The name of the sport (i.e. softball, basketball etc)
2. The skill (i.e. throwing, passing, shooting etc)
3. The name you have given the drill
4. The objective of the drill
5. A short explanation of how the drill works
6. A diagram showing how the drill works
7. The equipment needed to run the drill
8. The number of players involved in the drill
